In Brest (Finistère), a 34-year-old woman was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Sunday April 3 after shooting her spouse twice on the night of March 31 to April 1 in their home in the Recouvrance district, reports France Blue Breizh Izel. She faces life imprisonment.

The 30-year-old called the police after shooting her spouse with a rifle. Injured, the 29-year-old man was transported to the emergency room in critical condition with serious injuries, particularly to the head. He died a few hours later on Friday.

Placed in police custody, the Brestoise admitted to being the sole author of the two shots that caused the death of the victim. The facts took place after an argument between the couple, but the exact circumstances have yet to be clarified. “Throughout her police custody, the implicated spouse, aged 34, evolved in her statements on the circumstances of the facts”, explains the prosecution. An autopsy will be performed at the beginning of the week to establish the direct causes of the victim’s death.

The couple in their thirties practiced sport shooting. A dozen firearms, rifles, handguns, and a large number of ammunition, were seized from their home by the police as part of a search.
