(Rouyn-Noranda) A woman who was traveling on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) lost her life following a swerve, Sunday evening, in Rouyn-Noranda, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) went to the scene of the accident around 7 p.m., more precisely on rang Francœur near Rideau Boulevard.
The driver was alone on board the ATV and was not accompanied at the time, said SQ spokeswoman Béatrice Dorsinville.
The reason why the woman would have lost control of her machine remains to be determined.
The ATV would have rolled several times according to the SQ. The woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
An SQ investigator was dispatched to the scene to better understand the causes and circumstances of the swerve. Rideau Boulevard is currently closed in both directions to allow for scene analysis.
