A woman dies, her coat stuck in a Paris metro car door

(Paris) A woman in her forties died on Saturday in the Paris metro, her coat having gotten stuck in a door as she got off the train, we learned on Sunday from the Régie Autonome des transport Parisians (RATP) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.


“Shortly after 4 p.m., at the Bel-Air metro station, a woman born in 1977 saw her coat stuck on getting off the train, and her death ensued,” said the prosecution. According to media reports, her exit from the car was rushed and she was swept away as the train set off again.

An investigation into the cause of death has been opened.

“The driver, shocked, was taken care of by his management and the firefighters”, specified the RATP, adding that a “victim assistance unit [avait] was immediately triggered.
