The breeders of the Millevaches plateau were convinced of this; they now have confirmation. The four sheep killed on the weekend of May 1 in Pigerolles in the south of Creuse were indeed attacked by a wolf. The prefecture confirms this to France Bleu Creuse this Wednesday, May 4, after the conclusion of the investigation by the French office for biodiversity.
These two attacks in the same breeding of Soulières, in Pigerolles, killed four ewes and injured eight others. Since December 2021, one or more wolves have been responsible for the death of about thirty sheep in Creuse. On the other hand, despite several suspicions, no cattle were killed by the large predator. The calves found dead had in fact been devoured by stray dogs or scavengers after a fall, according to the prefecture.
