A “white solidarity march” is organized on Saturday October 5 in Mazan (Vaucluse) at 2:30 p.m., in tribute to Gisèle Pelicot and all the victims of violence for “show that beyond violence, there can be humanity”explains Chloé Sarra, women’s project manager at the Isofaculté de Mazan, a reconstruction center for people who are victims of violence, with and through horses.

“The objective that is carried by the women we support is really to be able to provide their support to Gisèle Pelicotexplains Chloé Sarra. This march is intended to be silent and peaceful.” It’s a blank march, because “even if in fact there was no death, the idea is to be able to reflect and that everyone can have a thought for women victims of violence in general and to be able to be outraged against violence, in a peaceful manner”, she continues.

The people of Mazan and the town of Mazan are very affected by the Pelicot affair: “It’s a small village, you have to imagine the boomerang that this affair could have caused in the town. The idea is to put the Mazanais at the heart of more peaceful and nicer news.” Everyone is invited, “Men in particular, we invite them to come and support, because violence is not only a women’s story, it is also a men’s story”she assures.

The organizers of the march hope “to show solidarity, to be one. Show that beyond the violence, there can be a humanity behind all of this and come together to share the same values together and carry a message of hope and solidarity.” Gisèle and the Pelicot family will not be present at the white march “in view of the tensions surrounding this trial, to avoid any problems”explains Chloé Sarra, but the members of the family “were delighted with this initiative”.
