A walk-in vaccination operation in a shopping center in Douai

Since Saturday, November 27, all adults have been eligible for a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, as everywhere in France, appointments are multiplied in vaccinodromes, doctors and pharmacies. So much so that finding a place becomes quite difficult. The Gayant vaccination center in Douai therefore moved to a commercial area, to offer a day of vaccinations without an appointment.

More than 200 people vaccinated

Rovaldo got wind of the news just before going to bed the night before. He therefore jumped at the opportunity to benefit from the third dose. “It’s wonderful because that’s how it’s done right away. And at my age, it’s hard to make an appointment on Doctolib …”

In the small stand, two nurses take turns vaccinating. Sara sees only positive results from this vaccination in a shopping center. “The people who come to see us thank us and tell us that it is easier for them like that. They are in a good mood and so are we.”, she laughs.

In total, more than 200 people took advantage of the operation to be vaccinated. In the vast majority, for a third dose. But a few people also raised their sleeves for the first time, like Laetitia. “I was scared so I waited. But here we can see that the contaminations are increasing despite the vaccination. I therefore resolved to protect myself and protect the others”, she explains.

There is a part of the population that must be fetched

For Saliah Grévin, director of the Gayant vaccination center in Douai, these “punch” operations are important for reach the widest possible audience. “There is a part of the population that is not “antivax”, but that must be fetched. We did it with “vaccibus” notably. The operations in which we go to the population generally work very well “.

In the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, they are close to two and a half million people that it will be necessary to gradually vaccinate in the coming months.
