An arson fire in a warehouse of the Volvic bottled water brand brought production to a halt in the town of the same name, located in Puy-de-Dôme. The authors could make ecological claims, while the environmental impact of the company is often singled out.
6 water production lines are still shut down, in a Volvic brand warehouse, in the town of the same numberm, located in Puy-de-Dôme. Millions of mihis in bottle are stopped dead due to an arson in a highly guarded technical room. The damage is considerable. “The event happened on the night of Tuesday (April 30) to Wednesday (May 1). When it happened, the factory was shut down, in view of May 1“, explains Emmanuel Gerardin, director of the Volvic Water Company. It was ultimately unable to restart.
An ecological claim?
According to the first elements of the investigation, two masked men, seen on surveillance cameras, were behind the fire. Before leaving, they left a tag which could constitute an ecological claim, while associations denounce the environmental impact of Volvic. The company is notably accused of drying up the surrounding waterways.
