Big news in the world of Quebec rock: the group Karkwa launched a new song and a music video on Wednesday morning, more than 10 years after their separation.
The alternative rock group made the announcement on Wednesday morning via the music site, the Auditory Channel.
This new song, which several Internet users already describe as “good old Karkwa”, offers hope for a new album to come for the group, which broke up in 2012. Especially since we know that band members were unavailable for an interview, as “being in the studio” when contacted today by The newspaper.
Perfect on screen will be available on all listening platforms from Thursday, it was specified. Fans can, however, view the clip for this new surprise song now on YouTube. This one stars the actress Pascale Bussières, a perfect choice to represent this “perfect on-screen” woman and artist.
Ode to cinema
Directed by Charles Antoine Olivier and Xavier Bossé, the video filmed in a sequence shot is an ode to cinema directly inspired by this new piece by the group. Hence the choice to have placed this real actress – brilliantly and powerfully delivering a horde of emotions throughout the song – at its center.
This piece represents a first studio collaboration for Louis-Jean Cormier, François Lafontaine, Julien Sagot, Stéphane Bergeron and Martin Lamontagne since the album glass paths, released in September 2011.
Rave reviews
On Karkwa’s social networks, positive comments have been pouring in since the publication of the news of their return and the music video. “We’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Finally!”, “We hope so much for an album and a tour” and “I shed a tear of happiness” are just a few messages sent to the members of the group. The impressive performance of Pascale Bussières is not overlooked either.
