For some time, the production of “Dancing with the Stars” seems to want to break the codes and that’s good! Proof of this is with Bilal Hassani. The young artist being the first to dance with a partner of the same sex during the last season of TF1’s tele-hook. A few years ago, the production had also relied on Sophie Vouzelaud, first runner-up to Miss France 2007, 90% deaf from birth, who had still been able to make a nice run during her season despite her disability. But did you know that a blind candidate almost tried his luck in the dance competition of the first channel? This is what Maxime Dereymez revealed at the microphone of Jordan De Luxe a few days ago.
The emblematic dancer of the TF1 tele-hook revealing that Gilbert Montagné had almost walked the floors of the TF1 show. His participation could have been done during the very first season of the show. “I was asked to cast it. She was the very first celebrity to be cast.”he confided at first before regretting the fact that he was not selected: “Maybe it will happen in the next seasons, we don’t know”. Maxime Dereymez then giving more details on the non-selection of Gilbert Montagné: “It is true that it is complicated. The challenge, especially for a first season of Dancing with the Stars, was still very daring. It’s daring especially for the dancer, the choreographer, who was going to have to work with him”.
Indeed, although the challenge could have been superb, it is clear that it was significant and Maxime Dereymez recognizes it: “It is a disability that is even more difficult than a person who is deaf. So, it’s a huge job and in a program where there is a stopwatch, do we have time to do that?. The dancer still has a very nice memory of the artist’s audition. “I had been very touched… I was at his feet, showing him the work, of the feet, of the legs”he remembered before concluding: “And he was like, ‘Really, don’t be afraid, touch me. He was in it, but fully.”
