A vice-president of the SQ union relieved of his duties

The vice-president of finance for the Quebec Provincial Police Association (APPQ), Charles Hopson, has been suspended from his duties.

The president of the APPQ, Dominic Ricard, confirmed the information on Monday in a statement sent to the media.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) for its part affirmed that a police officer had been relieved of his duties and returned to his home with pay in connection with the contractual provisions relating to criminal and penal matters. Inspector Richard Gauthier, of the communications department, however, did not want to confirm whether it is Mr. Hopson.

In his statement, Mr. Ricard claimed his vice-president was relieved of his duties in connection with an event that occurred “a few days ago”.

“The facts alleged in connection with this event have no connection with the work he was doing within the Association,” he said. The APPQ trusts the ongoing process for the future. . This is why we offer the Sûreté du Québec our full cooperation. »

Joined by The duty, Mr. Ricard declined to comment further.
