Deployment of security perimeters, reinforced personnel, 35,000 police officers and gendarmes, 18,000 soldiers, in addition to foreign forces coming as reinforcements… The security system deployed by France for the Paris Olympic Games is massive. On the Seine, the army must secure the boarding area for the 10,000 athletes expected on Friday, July 26 for the opening ceremony. “This will allow us to intervene very quickly, at any point in the sector, to free ourselves from Parisian traffic constraints”explains Captain Quentin, from the 13th half-brigade of the Foreign Legion.
The battalion is preparing for several situations. “It starts with the infiltration of divers, to destroy a boat, or a floating object that would be explosive, or a drone that would come and drop an explosive charge”For several months, simulations of terrorist attacks have also been organized to train certain police officers whose core profession is not this.
