In Federal 3, the Rugby Club Amiénois (RCA) is preparing a very important derby. This Sunday, at the Charassain stadium (3 p.m.), the players of Martin Saleille will host Compiègne, with the aim of keeping second place in the classification of their group. There are four matches left and only the first three teams will qualify directly for the final phase and a potential climb to Federal 2.
“If we are in the three, we switch directly to the 32nd finals which will be played at the beginning of May. And then, all the teams which qualify for the 16th finals go up to Federal 2”, explains the one who is also general manager of the club. “There is a real club project”, continues Martin Saleille. “We have leaders who are already working for the future, it’s how to do better all the time. It’s never resting thinking we’re in Federal 3, it’s already good, no! They’re working already on the sequel, if we go up. And if we don’t go up, how do we go up after?
work the defense
It is therefore a very exciting end to the season that awaits the players of Martin Saleille. “Everyone is on a war footing, we are at full speed,” enthuses the technician. “We got off to a rocky start, now that the game is a little better, we’re getting into money-time. I think what can make the difference is first of all consistency and also efficiency. We progressed in the game but also mentally, in the management of the match. At the beginning of the season when we had a 10-15 minute air gap we took a lot of points and we had a lot of trouble to reemerge.”
“I believe that what can also make the difference in the game is to continue to be strong offensively”, continues Martin Saleille. “We are the group’s first attack. On the other hand, defensively, we are still taking too many tries, too many points. If we manage to correct a few points defensively, we should be even better. At the start of the season, I told the players that 80% of the team can train the right teammates in Federal 2. The players have become aware of their level and the possibility of playing higher or in any case of being part of the top of Federal 3.
