A Vauclusien embarks on the design of old-fashioned geographical wall maps

After spending his professional career making technical maps for design offices and local authorities, a Vaucluse resident, Gabriel Barneaud, created his ViaCarto brand to design wall maps like those of yesteryear, but with current references.

“First, there was a work of reflection on the graphic and cartographic language, the fonts that I was going to use, the colors, the style, but also the frames or the style given to the legends. A work done under the brand ViaCarto©.And then, the choice was to decline the national map and the regional maps. And so the short-term project is to be able to print the eleven other regions, apart from the two already created, always drawing inspiration from the different atlases I have at home, maps and atlases from the 19th and 20th century. “

On the Viacarto site are offered the map of France, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, will soon follow Corsica. For the development of other regions, at the moment, crowdfunding is online via the Ulule site under the heading “Shop your card”.
