His name is Manu, aka Emmanuel Levy, he is 53 years old, and he is the star of “Manu in the 6/10″, France’s first musical morning show, with nearly 800,000 listeners daily. Formerly of Arthur’s shows on Fun Radio, Europe 1 and Europe 2, he has been returned in the morning on NRJ, every year since 2011. Unfortunately, behind a very friendly appearance, in private, his colleagues describe a “tyrannical boss”“once the microphones are turned off”as our colleagues at Libération report in their columns, this April 2, 2024.
A completely toxic work climate
After a survey of around twenty people, the daily newspaper exposed the very difficult working conditions that Manu imposed on his teams, namely “work overload, threats, outbursts of anger, sexism”. In turn, they denounce: “I called a psychologist urgently, I felt like I was sinking”, “Manu, it’s a drop of poison a day”“He destroyed us psychologically“.
To date, we know three names of former colleagues of the airwave star, who preferred to leave. Libération cites Valentin Chevalier, its main co-host for eight years, but also Isabelle Giami, who was there for five years, as well as Aude Fraineau, co-host for two seasons.
The Cauet affair is not even over
Enough to further fuel the fire of controversy which still reigns within NRJ. As a reminder, six months ago, targeted by several complaints for rape and sexual assault, another leading figure in radio, Sébastien Cauet, was suspended from the air… He is now in court with his former employer . On March 18, 2024, he declared before the Paris commercial court that he wanted “restart a show” with his teams. And to add: “I’m just waiting for that. And if it doesn’t happen on NRJ, it will happen elsewhere”. The judgment is expected on May 7, 2024.
