The Pyrénées-Atlantiques firefighters intervened on a spectacular accident occurred this Thursday, May 20 at the end of the day north of Pau. In Astis, route de Bordeaux, a truck fell into a river, the Louis from France. The vehicle, which was carrying pallets, ended up in the water, on its roof, after leaving the lane.
The miraculous driver
Despite the scale of the accident, the driver miraculously escaped unscathed. The emergency services were able to easily extract it from its truckand then evacuated him to the hospital in Pau due to minor injuries.
Water pollution
The semi-trailer, on the other hand, was damaged. Leaks were found at two of its tanks, and diesel fuel has spilled into the river, causing water pollution. The emergency services therefore set up three floating booms to contain the leak, and carried out operations to recover the pollutants in the water.
