One year after the assassination in Arras of Dominique Bernard, a French teacher killed by the terrorist Mohammed Mogouchkov, a tribute ceremony will take place on Sunday October 13 in the presence of the Ministers of the Interior Bruno Retailleau and of Education Anne Genetet. This tribute ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on the Place des Héros in Arras and “will mark one year since the attack which cost the life of Dominique Bernard” and which left three people injured, the town hall announced on Monday October 7 in a press release.
This ceremony was designed with Dominique Bernard’s wife and her loved ones as a “cultural memory sequence”explained to AFP the mayor of Arras Frédéric Leturque, with “dance, music, literature, read texts, plastic art”.
On October 13, 2023, three years after the murder of teacher Samuel Paty, also the victim of a jihadist attack, Dominique Bernard, 57, was stabbed to death by Mohammed Mogouchkov, a former student listed for Islamist radicalization. Mohammed Mogouchkov, 21, born in Russia, was indicted and imprisoned by an anti-terrorism investigating judge four days after the attack which he claimed in the name of the Islamic State (IS) organization. A minute of silence will be organized in French middle and high schools on October 14, in memory of Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard.
