The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Thursday, August 22, that it is requesting a trial for rape and sexual assault against Gérard Depardieu, for the facts denounced by the actress Charlotte Arnould. The Paris prosecutor’s office, “by final indictment of August 14, 2024, requested the referral of Gérard Depardieu to the departmental criminal court to be tried for rape by digital penetration and sexual assault on August 7 and 13, 2018 to the detriment of Charlotte Arnould”explains the Paris prosecutor’s office in a press release.
These requisitions “are the result of a long investigation which allowed us to gather the elements which corroborate my client’s words”, reacted to the AFP Me Carine Durrieu-Diebolt, lawyer of Charlotte Arnould. “For her, it is a huge step forward, full of hope, while waiting for the order of the investigating judge which will close the investigation.”she added.

A confrontation also took place on June 19, 2023, between the actor and the actress. Gérard Depardieu was re-heard on September 13, 2023. The investigations have been completed since April 16, and the prosecution issued its final indictment on August 14.
