Big success of video games, Uncharted sees its cinema version arrive on the screens Wednesday, February 16. He is the director of Welcome to Zombieland and of Venom Ruben Fleischer, who signs the film, with no less than six screenwriters to the rescue. Which is not necessarily a guarantee of success. With Tom HollandMark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas, Uncharted East an enjoyable Sunday afternoon family adventure film.
Treasure hunter Victor “sully” Sullivan convinces heist king Nathan Drake to join him in searching for Ferdinand Magellan’s gold-filled galleons that sank at sea 500 years ago. To find the location, a series of puzzles leads them to the four corners of the world with Moncada on their heels, convinced of being the ultimate heir of the great navigator.
With a superb aerial opening scene and a spectacular finale, its exotic stops dotted with chases and other fights, Uncharted looks like James Bond. Tom Holland’s nonchalance perfectly suits his role as a laid-back burglar, opposite a more professional Mark Wahlberg, who doubles his mission as the search for a missing brother.
Rubben Fleischer does the job, obviously helped by top-flight technicians in what constitutes the best of the film. Uncharted guarantees a change of scenery and escape, in a playful and entertaining tone, but which is quickly forgotten once the trip is over.
