The emergency services were called around 8:40 p.m. this Monday in Loriol-sur-Drôme. The tire of a livestock trailer burst and the trailer carrying a hundred pigs overturned on the lanes of the A7 motorway. About 50 animals were ejected or left the trailer in the accident. Some pigs are dead, others injured, still others find themselves free on the highway.
But about fifteen firefighters, gendarmes and the services of Vinci Autoroutes intervened to contain the pigs, put up barriers to prevent them from wandering and causing an accident.
The motorway at Loriol-sur-Drôme was cut off, initially in both directions, but traffic was quickly restored to the north. Only the North-South routes remain inaccessible at 10:30 p.m.

The intervention must continue until late at night. A crane truck was called to come and lift the trailer. And a veterinarian was also expected on site this Monday evening.
