On December 6, Francky Vincent was Cyril Hanouna’s guest on the show “Touche pas à mon poste”. The famous singer had indeed responded to the call of the C8 channel to talk about his appointment as Knight of Arts and Letters. Unfortunately for him, some columnists including Géraldine Maillet and Gilles Verdez literally focused the subject of conversation on his relationship and his friendship with Dieudonné.
“Me, what shocks me, Mr. Vincent, it’s not your words, it’s your adoration for Dieudonné. On the channel of Alain Soral, a far-right essayist, you still said: I have unconditional admiration for him, all the respect in the world. Dieudonné is an anti-Semite, condemned as such. How can you say that? Do you condone Dieudonné’s anti-Semitism? launched Gilles Verdez.
Very embarrassed and annoyed, Francky Vincent then refused to answer before finally justifying himself: “I have a sister who had a child with a Jew, I have a mixed nephew, I am in no position to be racist and anti-Semitic.” At the same time, thousands of Internet users had come to his defense and accused the columnists of having trapped the singer who had not come at all to talk about this subject….
Francky Vincent steps up to the plate
This Sunday, December 25, 2022, we learned in the newspaper Le Parisien, that Gilles Verdez has decided to attack Gilles Verdez for defamation: “I sued Gilles Verdez for defamation… I am suspected of being a sympathizer of anti-Semites because I sang a song in 2019 at the Bal des quenelles in Dieudonné. While my wife is Semitic, and I had a child with a Semitic mestizo… I take this seriously. Beyond me, they wanted to sue the committee that awarded me the Medal of Arts and Letters. Am I unworthy to receive it? But who are they to judge me?
The singer then explains that he is furious at having found himself in a “trap” and facing a “junk court”. He indeed assures that the production of TPMP had told him that he would speak for eight minutes about his distinction but that “it only lasted thirty seconds and they fell on me for twenty-five minutes”.
