Le Havre customs officers intercepted nearly a ton of cocaine in the port of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), between Saturday January 29 and Tuesday February 1, announced the Ministry of Economy and Finance in a press release, Friday February 4 . The drugs were concealed in containers and trucks from Chile, Brazil and overseas.

A first seizure of 109 kilograms was made by customs on Saturday, checking a container supposed to carry slate plates arriving from Brazil. Two days later, the same brigade of external surveillance of ships made it possible to discover 291 kilograms of cocaine hidden among used tires, inside seven containers arriving from Saint-Martin in Guadeloupe, at the Port2000 terminal. On Tuesday, it was on the A29 motorway that 575 kilograms of drugs were seized, in bags of brewer’s yeast. The heavyweight was from Brazil. In total, 975 kilograms of cocaine were seized in Le Havre in less than a week.

At the end of December, six people were placed in pre-trial detention after a seizure of more than a ton of cocaine, in a container at the port of Le Havre, then reported France Bleu Normandie. In early December, 1.5 tonnes of cocaine were discovered in a container in transit through the port.
