A threatening message leads to confinement in a Laval school

Students and staff members of a Laval high school were confined for a few hours inside the walls of the establishment on Thursday due to threats made on social networks.

The police say they were informed around 11:25 a.m. that an individual had made threatening remarks towards the Georges-Vanier school, in the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul district.

From then on, several police officers went to the grounds of the establishment to ensure a presence and carry out various checks.

“Half of the students were confined inside as a preventive measure, while the other half had already left for lunchtime,” said agent Stéphanie Beshara, spokesperson for the Laval police.

The checks carried out by the police both inside and outside the building did not find anything threatening.

The confinement was therefore lifted a little before 2 p.m. and all the students were able to return home.

An investigation has been opened by the police to try to find the author of the threats to the school.
