A third of leaders in favor of long-distance telework, according to a study

Teleworking has established itself and now it can also sometimes be practiced from abroad. 35% of the more than 400 business leaders interviewed by Opinionway for the startup Remoters, which facilitates the installation of employees abroad for the duration of a teleworking experience, declare themselves in favor of teleworking beyond our borders, according to a study of which franceinfo obtained the exclusivity.

>> In Sweden and the United States, telework is developing.

A result that surprised Damien Corchia, co-founder of Remoters: “We thought it would be less than that. And in the Opinionway study that we did, we didn’t specifically select companies by profile. We didn’t say to ourselves: ‘Here, we’re only going to take innovative companies.’ We really took all the companies, so we expected that there would be very few supporters of telework abroad and there were more than we thought. “

But who are these new long-distance teleworkers? Their sociology has changed a lot with the health crisis. “Before the Covid, it was only freelance and essentially people who work in the tech business, developers to take the most commonexplains Damien Corchia. Since the Covid, that has changed. These are more ‘normal’, more classic professions. It can be people on permanent contracts, obviously more in the tertiary sector. In fact, to put it simply, these are the jobs where people can telecommute from home.

These teleworkers from abroad do not leave to settle elsewhere permanently. Rather, they make short stays of two to three months. Where are they going ? Here too, there has been an evolution with the Covid, reveals Damien Corchia. “It’s very much southern Europe. The precursors, the generation of five or six years ago, tended to go very far, to Bali, Thailand, Latin America… The new generation that is much more numerous goes much less far: in Spain, in Portugal, in Italy, in the Canary Islands. Quite simply because there is no jet lag.”

What advantages does this form of telework have for employers? Business leaders, a minority as we recall, who are in favor of it, see it as a source of motivation for their employees and think that by allowing this form of work, they will make their business more attractive.

>> “If you do not show up, we will consider that you have resigned”. Elon Musk ends telework at Tesla.

But 25% fear a loss of productivity due to a poor wifi connection and 17% think that employees will lack control and support.
