a third jersey in the colors of the city’s history for the 2022-23 season

A charcoal black jersey for the Greens. Quite a symbol. AS Saint-Étienne unveiled this Tuesday, September 13 the third jersey for this 2022-23 season in Ligue 2. A jersey, from new partner Hummel, which will only be worn rarely but which nevertheless has, precisely, its own only a strong symbolic charge and a nice nod to the history of the city.

Couriot shaft and miner’s lamp in the spotlight

First there is the choice of this color, of course, black reminiscent of coal and mines who made the history of Saint-Étienne. “I like it, especially the patterns on the jersey which represent the mine” Lucas confides. The wink goes even further. On the whole of the shirt we can see gray lines, fine, which run through it. “it is linked to the Couriot well” notes Mathieu for whom “This jersey has a nice design, sober but very elegant.”

And then, another wink and not the leasta miner’s lamp. It is not visible to the viewer. It is hidden, inside the shirt, in the neckline at the level of the neck. “the miners’ lamp, behind the neck, me following a miner’s grandson, it touched me a little bit all the same” Alan admits.

Others who are more mocking and teasing see a hidden message in it, like Didier “the effort that must be put into the club compared to the players, compared to all that. It’s very good” he says, a way of telling the Greens to go to the coal to come out with their heads held high from this season in Ligue 2.

Finally, this third jersey of the 2022-23 season features for the very first time the new, enriched logo of the club with branches of laurels and oaks. A nod, this time, to the coat of arms of the Stéphanoise city.
