A third home run for Édouard Julien

(Minneapolis) Édouard Julien hit a long ball and drove in two runs and crossed home plate twice to help the Minnesota Twins beat the San Francisco Giants 7-1 on Wednesday, ending a three-game losing streak.

Joe Ryan gave up six hits, struck out four and allowed a run in five innings, his lowest total of the season, and won his seventh game in eight starts.

Julien managed one in three attendance, he who was the leader at bat for the first time since April 16.

“I’ll remember it for the rest of my life,” Julien said.

Willi Castro, who stole home plate, made two out of three and hit a double. It was the first a Twins batter had stolen home since Clete Thomas in 2013.

At the Giants, Austin Slater could return to play in the next few days. The team is looking into the possibility of fitness for the 30-year-old, who has played just six games this season.

The Twins’ Joey Gallo will miss at least a few days after sustaining a hamstring injury.
