Rescuers from the Chamonix high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) deplored the death of a third mountaineer in 24 hours in the Mont-Blanc massif, France Bleu Pays de Savoie learned on Monday February 5. This new fatal accident occurred during the night from Sunday to Monday. A 23-year-old mountaineer lost his life in the Durier refuge area, at the Col de Miage, at an altitude of 3,300 meters. He fell 500 to 600 meters on a steep slope, according to information from France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

In this accident, there were two climbers. One of the two in the group managed to escape and was able to contact the rescuers who recovered him in a state of hypothermia and dehydration. The Chamonix PGHM waited until Monday before returning to the site to identify the body of the man who had fallen.

This is the third accidental death in the Mont-Blanc massif in the last 24 hours. Sunday morning, two hikers, aged around forty, who went on an excursion in the Chorde corridor in the town of Servoz (Haute-Savoie), died after having unscrewed.
