In a brief statement sent Friday, the union says that the text of the agreement will soon be presented to members who will decide on all its content.

No comments will be issued until then by the union.

Five days before the conclusion of this agreement in principle, the employees announced a one-day strike in 13 branches this Saturday, June 25.

A few days ago, union president Maxime Nadeau called the salary offer ridiculous, even insulting. The employees of the SQDC had expressed their intention of obtaining parity with the employees of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ).

Mr. Nadeau had explained that the hourly rate upon entering the SQDC was $17.12 per hour and that it took about eight years to reach the 12e step set at $21.23 per hour. In comparison, the starting salary at the SAQ is $22.59, according to the 2021 collective agreement.

The SQDC-CSN represents approximately 200 employees spread over 16 branches. For its part, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, represents 300 union members in 26 branches.
