It is necessary to move quickly during interventions in Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes. But with the traffic jams on the summer roads, it is difficult for the emergency services to make their way. Called for a vital emergency, the firefighters go to the scene and wait for the SAMU medical team. In a few minutes, a complete battery of tests is carried out.
All ambulance departures are decided at the Nice University Hospital. The 15 dispatch center is particularly busy in the summer. On site, SAMU members answer patients’ questions on the phone. At the emergency department of the Pasteur hospital, admissions are rife for fractures, drownings or illnesses because many vacationers come to Nice in the summer. In the middle of July, the emergency departments are often saturated. With more than 300 admissions per day, the Nice emergency department is the busiest in France.
