It’s a day with a sense of deja vu. The four semi-finalists of the last Euro meet on Thursday June 20. Before the evening showdown between Spain and Italy, both victorious in their first match, Denmark will want to take revenge on England, who eliminated them during the 2021 European Championship. In the afternoon, the challenge will be simple between Serbia and Slovenia: score points.

The poster not to be missed: Spain-Italy (9 p.m.)

This is one of the most anticipated group matches. This confrontation between two of the last three winners of the competition is a match with multiple stakes. Their 41st duel in history is a revenge after Italy’s victory on penalties in the semi-final of the Euro three years ago. Both teams end up as winners of their first match, but not in the same way. If La Roja made a strong impression by beating Croatia 3-0, Squadra Azzurra struggled to win against modest Albania (2-1).

The team that wins will secure its place in the round of 16, while the team that loses will be under pressure for its last group match. In the event of a draw, both teams would take a step towards qualification, but could see Croatia or Albania come back to one point.

The team to watch: England wants to assert itself (6 p.m.)

Despite their favorite status, the English were not reassured during their first match against Serbia. If they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from the inevitable Jude Bellingham, Gareth Southgate’s men did not show great serenity. Against the Danes, we will have to move up the scales to make our way to the final stages.

Opposite, Denmark could not do better than a draw against Slovenia. Scorer, Manchester United player Christian Eriksen will face opponents he knows well, with the obligation to achieve an exploit to give himself a good chance of qualifying for the round of 16.

The match away from the spotlight: Slovenia-Serbia (3 p.m.)

Serbia has no choice but to win. After their defeat against England on the first day, Dragan Stojkovic’s men must score points against Slovenia. The Serbs will be able to rely on their two scorers Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic, authors of 58 goals between them this season, to find the net.

Eye-catching (1-1) against the Danes, the Slovenes remain in seven games without defeat, including a victory against Portugal on March 26. Their defensive solidity, embodied by Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, is their foundation for continuing their good momentum.
