A teacher is in police custody in Paris after burning official copies of his students’ baccalaureate in front of the Maria Deraismes high school in the 17th arrondissement of the capital, franceinfo learned from a source familiar with the matter on Wednesday May 10. This source adds that the teacher encouraged the students to join his action, but that the latter refused to participate.

“A Casting Error”

According to information from franceinfo obtained from a source familiar with the matter, he is a contract English teacher who arrived at the establishment last January. This was his first year as a teacher. “It’s a casting error”, tells franceinfo a member of the Parisian establishment. However, the teacher had given “the feeling of having the required qualities” to teach.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the teacher left the establishment after his act. He was arrested a few hundred meters further by the police. He claimed an action against the National Education and the organization of the baccalaureate. To echo his action, the professor invited journalists from Le Parisien who filmed the scene. Contacted by franceinfo, the school principal confirms that he has filed a complaint.
