A taxi driver assaulted in Lévis

A taxi driver was allegedly attacked and manhandled by two intoxicated suspects who did not want to pay for their fare, in Lévis, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

According to the Service de police de la Ville de Lévis (SPVL), the two men, aged 40 and 23, would have boarded the taxi vehicle in Quebec when leaving a licensed establishment.

The tone would then have risen once on the South Shore, at the intersection of Route du Président-Kennedy and Rue de Sarosto, according to the complaint collected by the police.

“When they arrived in the territory of Lévis, they would have taken the taxi driver by the throat, would have punched him and would have broken the door frame of the taxi vehicle, all in order to save themselves for do not pay for the race, ”says SPVL spokesperson Frédéric Fréchette.

Despite this attack, the driver of the taxi, a man in his forties, was not injured.

According to the police, the two suspects, who are from another province in the east of the country, were intoxicated at the time. They ended the night in detention.

The two individuals were expected in court during the day Thursday, at the Quebec City courthouse. They face charges of assault, mischief and fraudulently obtaining transportation.
