A suspect was arrested on Friday in the so-called “scooter rapist” case in Grenoble (Isère), the Grenoble prosecutor announced on Saturday April 6 to France Télévisions, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré. “A suspect was taken into custody yesterday afternoon [vendredi] and the DNA expertise carried out urgently by the Lyon national police laboratory makes it possible to confuse him in one of the cases which the prosecution referred to the investigating judge.specified Eric Vaillant, who will hold a press conference on Sunday following the suspect’s appearance before the investigating judge.

On March 29, the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation for seven acts committed between February 8 and March 16 in Grenoble and its outskirts, in Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux and Saint-Martin-d’Hères.

The investigation concerns two rapes, an attempted rape, a sexual assault and violence committed. The prosecutor had described “a 20 year old man, European type”, who traveled on a scooter, acted alone and followed his victims before attacking them. The broadcast of his report allowed investigators to collect numerous testimonies.
