A surprise concert on a beach in Biarritz creates the event

A guitar concert feet in the water or lying on your towel, this is the pleasant surprise experienced by the many holidaymakers present on the beach of Port-Vieux in Biarritz, this Thursday August 4 at the end of the afternoon. For half an hour, the Girondin guitarist Thibault Cauvin offered them a glimpse of his eclectic repertoire. Scheduled the next day at the Biarritz Piano Festival, the regular on the Basque coast and its surf spots responded to the invitation of the event’s founder, Thomas Valverde, who wanted to innovate this year by organizing “happenings” on the waterfront.

Two other concerts planned

For the 13th anniversary of the Biarritz Piano Festival, the artistic director wanted to get out of the walls and reach out to the uninitiated, where they are: on the beaches. Its objective is to distribute to as many people as possible the rich and varied repertoire of the piano. Alongside classical indoor concerts (Espace Bellevue, Gare du Midi…) until August 12, Thomas Valverde has therefore decided to organize 3 small events on the seafront, as close as possible to holidaymakers for their greatest happiness, thanks to a technical device reduced to the strict minimum. Himself a virtuoso pianist, he will perform on the steps of the Basque coast on Monday August 8, while the violinist Samuel Nemtanu will perform the next day at Port-Vieux.

A jazz concert is also organized on Sunday on the esplanade of the Biarritz lighthouse, from 6 p.m., with a breathtaking view of the Grand Plage. As for Thibault Cauvin, he is performing again this Friday, August 5, but this time indoors, under the dome of the Bellevue space, the traditional hall of the Biarritz Piano Festival.
