Sentenced five years ago for sex crimes against teenage girls, a former shareholder of the Le Massif du Sud ski resort is once again in court for similar offences.
Resident of Quebec, Frank Desmeules, 56, was arrested in mid-January and appeared on six counts, including sexual assault on a minor, computer luring, obtaining sexual services for consideration and obstruction of justice.
A search was conducted at his home, where the police seized “certain items related to the events”, as well as computer equipment which will be analyzed.
“The investigation tends to show that the offenses were allegedly committed in Saint-Hyacinthe with a teenager met via social media,” said Sergeant Valérie Beauchamp, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

According to our information, Desmeules would have been active on Snapchat and on the sugardaddy.com dating site, where he would have approached teenage girls.
On Snapchat, he used the username “Francisco”, while on the site sugardaddy.com, he used the handle “sweethoney”.
The police do not exclude that Desmeules could have made other young victims.
This is not the first time that Frank Desmeules has found himself in court for sex crimes.
In 2017, he was sentenced to a six-month prison term for sex offenses against what he believed to be teenage girls.
The crimes he committed at the time took place between January 2014 and December 2015.
In June 2015, he went so far as to offer money to a 15-year-old girl for a sexual encounter.

“The remarks were explicit and of a ribald nature. Following a search carried out at the home of the accused, more than 10,000 exchanges of a sexual nature were found and the gentleman admitted and acknowledged that some of these exchanges had been made with adolescent girls, ”declared to the Crown prosecutor at the time.
On social networks, the usernames of Frank Desmeules clearly implied that he offered “sugar daddy” services.
The lawyer who defended Desmeules during this trial told the judge that his client had come “a long way since his arrest”.
According to him, his client’s approach to a psychologist and his sexology consultations ensured that the risk of recidivism was low.
“My client bitterly regrets since he realizes today that the vicious circle in which he was embarked could have taken him much further and the police intervention, in the end, became positive for him”, had related the lawyer of Desmilles.
