Covid-19 screening tests have multiplied since the end of the year holidays with nearly 1.5 million per day. For this, a new staff has been mobilized: the students. The latter can be made nearly 200 euros per day.
Thousands of anti-Covid tests are carried out daily, in pharmacies, by the sea or even in the middle of the street. Since the beginning of 2021, we have seen that the samplers are quite young. They are students who have come as reinforcements, seduced by generous salaries. Like Tristan Labattut, 21, a pharmacy student in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). He’s been taking patients for nine months: “I do around fifty tests a day, multiplied by around 4 euros.” That’s about 200 euros in one day for four hours of work. It is much more than the SMIC.
This very attractive student job is displayed on the internet under the title “anti-Covid mediator”. To apply, you need at least the baccalaureate or a health or social CAP, then follow two compulsory courses. The problem is that some young people are on their own, while the authorities force pharmacists to supervise their work. Without support, some unions fear that the results will be distorted. Since the beginning of the year, on average, nearly 11 million tests have been carried out each week.
