a striker recruited at the end of the transfer window

After the announcement of Jordan Tell’s departure for Grenoble (L2) yesterday afternoon, Clermont Foot supporters suspected that the transfer window was not closed. Difficult to imagine that the club releases the one who had taken the place of second center forward without his departure being compensated. We had to be patient to find out the name of the last recruit of this Ligue 1 seasonunveiled shortly before midnight, the closing of transfers.

The new recruit is therefore called Grejohn Kyei. This 26-year-old center forward had been playing for the Swiss Servette de Genève since 2019. With rather flattering statistics: 82 matches played, 25 goals and 12 assists. Not a high-sounding name but Clermont Foot is used to finding unknown but effective attackers.

This Parisian suburbanite (he was born in Gonesse) was trained at the Stade de Reims, where he played a few L1 matches. He was then transferred to Lens, then in L2, before leaving for Switzerland. The new striker becomes in fact one of the players of Clermont Foot who has the most experience in the L1 with 20 games and 4 goals scored. He was also selected once with the France U23 team (1 goal).

Grejohn Kyei signed for a short period, just six months. A priori to be the substitute for Mohammed Bayo at the forefront of the Clermont attack. A recruitment that was done with the utmost discretion. The name of Kyei was indeed one of the rumors of this end of transfer window but on the side of Sochaux. He should be qualified next Sunday for the trip to Nice.

The Clermont transfer window therefore ends with two arrivals, both in attack (Lucas Da Cunha and Grejohn Kyei) for three departures (Jonathan Iglesias, Jordan Tell and Julien Boyer).
