a solidarity egg hunt for 300 young Pantinois

The Easter bells shouldn’t be long! It is today, Sunday, that traditionally the bells and other rabbits bring the famous chocolates! But, let’s be honest, the greediest among us didn’t wait. This was the case yesterday, Saturday April 16, for example in Seine-Saint-Denis where the Secours Populaire organized a day of solidarity egg hunts for 300 children from Pantin.

Moment of solidarity, popular education

An egg hunt that began for children (and adults!) with a series of workshops. Games, make-up, quizzes on food or world cuisine were on the program. To have the right to go hunting, you first had to participate in the activities.

A way to give another purpose to the event than simple greed: “we always try when we organize events, to ensure that there is a goal of popular education” explains Marylène Claire, the treasurer of Secours Populaire de Pantin, who continues: “to know how to play together, to know how to do things with the lady next door that you don’t know, with mom and dad because sometimes they don’t have much time”.

And it’s true that this Saturday is an important moment for Souad, beneficiary of Secours Populaire, and her daughters Salma and Lyla. She recognizes it between school hours, the difficult screens to have real time for yourself with the children. _”Every year I bring them, it makes them happy and if it makes them happy, it makes me happy too!”. _She participates in the activities with the two little girls and the mother also keeps the precious cards that allow you to stamp the activities and win the right to go on an egg hunt!

And then comes, precisely, the moment long awaited by Salma, Lyla and their little comrades of the day. The children are gathered in a large room, while the volunteers hide some 3,000 plastic eggs in the garden. The goal ? Bring back at least three!

At the start, the little ones scatter in the garden like a flock of sparrows. Quickly, Salma and Lyla’s picking turns out to be very good and their little baskets are overflowing! “I like the egg hunt because we’re going to have cakes and chocolate eggs!” says Salma.

Indeed, once the loot has been collected, the activities validated, the children can go get their surprise, a bag prepared by the volunteers with small gifts and chocolate. And, unsurprisingly, Salma and Lyla and their little friends rushed to devour the chocolate eggs.

In total, 300 children took advantage of the good weather and left with their Easter chocolates thanks to the Secours Populaire de Pantin this Saturday, April 16, 2022. The hunt is open to all, beneficiaries or not of the association! This Sunday, April 17, some 2,500 children are thus expected at the Parc André Citroën in Paris from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m..
