A snowmobiler lost his life on Friday evening after hitting part of the structure of a bridge in Pierreville, a municipality in Centre-du-Québec.
The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m., while the 27-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Principale Street when he hit head-on the part of the bridge that leads to the Chenal Tardif row.
He died instantly. “Speed may have played a role in the collision,” admitted Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). He was alone on board his machine, and was not traveling in a group.
A patrol officer specializing in collision investigation from the SQ will be on the scene to better understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
