“A slap in the face”, Pierre Richard candidly on Alain Delon and what opposes them

Here’s some teasing. Via the X account (formerly Twitter) of Telematin

, this Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the France 2 morning show shared an extract from the interview with Pierre Richard conducted by Thomas Sotto. An exclusive exchange to discover next Thursday, November 30, from 9:05 a.m.… And suffice to say that the few images revealed by the channel made the web laugh!

The reason ? The actor and director put his foot down from the start by greeting his interlocutor. “Hello Eric, how are you?” he said to Marie Portolano’s sidekick who didn’t take this little blunder at all badly. “Thomas”, he simply corrected, bursting into laughter.

His comparison with Alain Delon

An interview during which Pierre Richard obviously looked back on his career… And this without failing to mention certain monuments of French cinema with whom he collaborated and in particular Alain Delon.

Indeed, the 89-year-old director declared: “Delon introduced himself, he already had the face of a seducer. He didn’t have to make any effort. He was as beautiful as the devil’s beauty. I didn’t really know, with my face. I wasn’t not beautiful, I had a slap in the face… And then God knows I gave… I received slaps from everyone”he confided.

As a reminder, this is not the first time that the two men have been compared. After playing his first real role in Alexander the Blessed (1968), the director Yves Robert would have told him: “Stop acting in other people’s cinema. You have no place in French cinema. You are not an actor, you are a character. You are not a young star like Alain Delon […]. It’s your asset. You have a special place, which is not yet written. It’s up to you to write it and make your place. Everything is permitted to you. Invent yourself. Make your cinema.”
