A sinkhole swallows two cars in Naples

Two cars were swallowed up by a sinkhole that appeared Tuesday morning in the Vomero district of Naples (Italy).


The two passengers in the moving vehicle were quickly extracted from the sinkhole by emergency services. They only suffered minor injuries.

A second vehicle, parked there, and a tree were also swept away by the sinkhole.

Due to a large water spill, several apartments in a neighboring building were flooded. Fearing subsidence of the land, emergency services evacuated 20 families.
