A few hundred people gathered in Paris, Tuesday, November 16, at the call of the collective #NousToutes, in memory of the 100th and 101st victims of feminicides since the beginning of the year 2021. In silence and in a collected atmosphere, the participants, mostly women, gathered near the Pantheon. Most of them with a candle, they formed a circle around 8 p.m. “to pay tribute to all those who have been murdered and to denounce the government’s lack of commitment to effectively fight against male violence”, according to the statement released in the afternoon. The activists dispersed shortly before 9 p.m.
On Tuesday, the collective Feminicides by companion or ex had reported on Facebook of the 100th and 101st feminicides of the year 2021 in France. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 146 women were victims of feminicides, that is to say killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in 2019, and 102 in 2020. This gathering took place a few days before the International Day for Combating Violence Against Women (25 November). Around this deadline, between November 20 and 27, “dozens of demonstrations” are planned in the country, said #NousToutes in its press release.
