Unemployment fell by 12.6% in 2021. These are the lowest figures for ten years in France.
The fall in unemployment is spectacular and concerns all sectors of employment. In one year, unemployment fell by 12.6%. After a peak linked to the health crisis in 2020, the number of unemployed is at its lowest level in 2021 for ten years with 3,335,600 job seekers in category A. In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), Karla, aged 22 years old, has just been hired by an insurance agency. After two years on a work-study program, it didn’t take long before she landed her first permanent contract.
The decline in unemployment concerns all age groups, but it is especially marked among those under 25: -17.8% in one year. Among seniors, the decline is slower: -8.2%. But will the companies that received a lot of financial aid last year have as many resources in the coming months to hire? Companies have already started repaying state-guaranteed loans.
