The journey of a Milan-Annecy-Paris TGV was disrupted on Thursday July 13 by “the presence of an aggressive individual on board”we learned from the SNCF. A plainclothes policeman on board intervened. The individual “is a gentleman who sought to open the doors”, explained a traveler interviewed by France Télévisions. “He took the emergency hammer to break the window. A policeman [en civil] arrived. [L’homme] managed to recover his weapon”. He would then have succeeded in opening fire.
The man, in his thirties, was arrested by the gendarmerie at Le Creusot station (Saône-et-Loire), where therowing “was immobilized” for the purposes of the investigation, said the same source. No injuries are to be deplored, specifies the parquet floor of Châlon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire).
A psychological unit set up
According to a journalist from franceinfo, also present in the TGV, the man boarded the train at Annecy station (Haute-Savoie). If there are no injuries on board, the SNCF announced that the train was now running more than two hours late. A psychological unit has been set up for travelers who need it.
Travelers stopped at Le Creusot boarded another TGV from Lyon, and were able to return to Paris. “A TGV left Lyon to take care of the passengers”specifies the SNCF. “The incident is over”, writes the company on Twitterwanting to reassure a mother whose two children were on board the train.
