A shooting took place on the evening of Saturday May 13 in Villerupt, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Five people were injured, three of them seriously. The track of the settling of accounts against the background of drug trafficking is privileged.

On the ground, yellow studs mark the location of the casings, about twenty, a symbol of the violence of the shooting which shook Villerupt (Meurthe-et-Moselle), on the evening of Saturday May 13. In the early evening, a hooded individual opened fire on young people gathered under a porch. The first deputy mayor, Guillaume Petitclair, was one of the first witnesses to arrive on the scene.

The mayor denounces the lack of police personnel

Of the five victims counted, three are in serious condition. The shooter fled by car. “This person was dropped off by a vehicle, and fired a long-barreled weapon, apparently in bursts“, reports Catherine Galen, public prosecutor of Val-de-Briey. The track of a settling of accounts against the background of drug trafficking was quickly mentioned, the place being known as a deal point.

The mayor (PCF) of the town, Pierre Spizak, is angry. He says he has repeatedly alerted the authorities in recent weeks. “In the next few days we will have more staff in the sector, but that’s not what we’re asking for. What we ask is that the workforce be sustainable over time“, he says.
