A fire in Fey-en-Haye (Meurthe-et-Moselle) has burned 140 hectares of an agricultural plot since Friday evening, reports France Bleu Sud-Lorraine on Saturday July 15. Surveillance operations continued throughout the night and continued again this Saturday morning to avoid any resumption.
It was during these operations that a First World War shell was accidentally discovered by firefighters. A demining team from Metz must go there over the weekend, specifies the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The fire broke out the day before, around 6 p.m., on an agricultural plot in the town of Fey-en-Haye, west of Pont-à-Mousson. Two groups of firefighters specializing in forest fires were deployed on the spot. In addition, farmers have helped to try to control the disaster.
Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading. The flame front, more than a hundred meters long, was located at the edge of a forest. She was ultimately very little affected.
