A septuagenarian was seriously injured on Thursday evening when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in a parking lot on boulevard Samson, in Laval.

The event occurred a little after 5 p.m. when the driver of the SUV made a maneuver to park, hitting the pedestrian as he passed, summarized Erika Landry, spokesperson for the Laval police department.
When help arrived, the man was unconscious. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, confirmed Urgence-santé.
The driver, a 68-year-old man, was not injured.
No criminal element seemed to have played a role in this drama at first sight. An investigation was nevertheless opened to try to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this accident.
