In an interview she gave to Vogue this Friday October 27, 2023, Sharon Stone returned to the tragedy she experienced in 2001. Then aged 43, the Hollywood star was the target of a stroke, but did not receive the necessary medical support. Twenty-five years after this life tragedy, Sharon Stone accuses the doctors to have minimized his painand to have attenuated them, on the grounds that they suspected her… of “to pretend”. A shocking testimony, in which she affirms that the doctors almost missed her cerebral hemorrhage, which could therefore have cost her her life: “What this experience taught me is that in the medical field, women are simply not heard, especially when there are no female doctors” condemns the sixty-year-old.
The stroke, diagnosed much too late, caused a cerebral hemorrhage, which was not seen during the angiogram by the doctors ; When they realized it, Sharon Stone’s chances of survival were reduced to only 1% by the medical profession. Today she condemns the doctors who removed her from brain surgery, without her prior consent: “I remember waking up on a stretcher, and asking the child who was taking me where I was being taken. He said to me: Brain surgery. A doctor had therefore decided, without my knowledge, and without my consent, to have me undergo exploratory brain surgery, and had sent me to the operating room.”
“I would have died if they had sent me home.”
“Because the medical staff did not take my pain seriously, they initially missed my brain hemorrhage. They did not diagnose it during the first angiogram and decided that I was pretending“ explains Sharon Stone. Fortunately surrounded by her best friend, the latter banged her fist on the table when the doctors invited her to go home, and insisted that her friend’s pain be taken seriously: “My best friend asked them to do a second angiogram, and they discovered a brain hemorrhage, throughout the subarachnoid pelvis, and that my vertebral artery had ruptured. I would have died if they had sent me home.”.
Long-lasting complications, due to a hemorrhage that lasted 9 days
The convalescence was very long. The cerebral hemorrhage having lasted nine days, it left behind serious consequences. After her hospital stay, Sharon Stone had difficulty walking and speaking for several weeks, and lost a considerable amount of weight: “I bled so much in my subarachnoid pelvis (head, neck and spine) that the right side of my face fellmy left foot was dragging, and I was stuttering very hard”. Added to all this were severe memory loss and eye complications.
Twenty years later, Sharon Stone has suffered serious traumatic after-effects from the lack of attention from the medical profession, and remains very affected by their coldness and antipathy : as Vogue explains, the actress Casino“remains very fearful today of the American health system” and became a hypochondriac, fearing more than anything the idea of having to be confronted with hospitals again…
