A series by Sophie Deraspe: “Motel Paradis” on Club illico from October 27

We finally have a date: Sophie Deraspe’s new series, “Motel Paradis”, will be available from October 27 on Club illico.

The trailer unveiled on Thursday is mouth-watering, as the director’s camera grabs us to take us on the quest for Jen Paradis, a young woman who, following a near-death experience, realizes that his sister Noémie, 14, did not commit suicide as believed.

“I went to the side of death, I saw people I know, living and dead. Then I was revived. There are things that have become clear”, says the main protagonist played by Nahéma Ricci, revealed in the film “Antigone” and in the series “Bête noire” by the same director. The actress also defended a role in “Les honorables”, another original series from Club illico.

Place for investigation

Brought back to life and still injured, Jen is convinced that her sister did not take her own life, as the inquest concluded three years earlier. It’s more like murder, she says. She then returns to her lost village, Val-Paradis, to find who killed her youngest, reminding the investigator at the time, Renaud, that the teenager’s body has never been found. Now retired, the latter will support him in this adventure which does not promise to be easy, as we can see in the images. The people of Val-Paradis will not be happy, indeed, to see Jen and Renaud land in their hometown. These will notably make an astonishing discovery in room 35 of the Motel Paradis.

The production describes the series as a police investigation, coupled with an “investigation of the soul”. Also, when the culprit or culprits have been identified, it is in the hands of Brigitte, the mother of Jen and Noémie, that the responsibility will return to restore justice…

Distribution

Besides Nahéma Ricci, the cast includes Pierre-Yves Charbonneau, Larissa Corriveau, Romane Denis, Martin Dubreuil, Stéphane Gagnon, Rémi Goulet, Isabelle Guérard, Elisapie, Guillaume Laurin, Anick Lemay, Chanel Mings, Alice Pascual, Vivi-Anne Riel, Éric Robidoux, Gildor Roy and Edward Tremblay-Grenier.

Produced by Zone3, in collaboration with Quebecor Content, the six-episode series was written by Stéphane Hogue and Sophie Deraspe.

Other series to come this fall on Club illico

Club illico must also launch, by the end of the year, Xavier Dolan’s first series, “The Night When Laurier Gaudreault Woke Up”, as well as “La Fault 3” and the very last episodes of “Nous “.
