A septuagenarian suspected of having killed his wife on Christmas Eve in Saint-Pierre d’Eyraud in the Dordogne

In the Dordogne, the Parquet de Périgueux could open a judicial investigation for murder of a spouse. A 71-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday. Suspected of feminicide, he should be presented this Tuesday to an examining magistrate and could be indicted.

They were a seemingly uneventful couple. He lived in a house, located at the entrance of Saint-Pierre d’Eyraud, for about ten years. In the village, he was not talked about and was very discreet.

However, Sunday, December 25, the 71-year-old man calls the firefighters in the morning. On the spot, the emergency services discover the lifeless body of his 64-year-old partner with a swollen face. The gendarmes move in turn and the septuagenarian, suspected of having killed his companion, is placed in police custody on Sunday, says prosecutor Solène Belaouar. He should be presented to the examining magistrate this Tuesday, December 27.

The prosecution of Bergerac has indeed divested itself in favor of the criminal center of Périgueux.

The victim’s body was transferred to the forensic medical institute for an autopsy. It could make it possible to specify the circumstances of the death of the victim.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of the Interior, 122 women were victims of femicide in 2021, a number up 21% compared to 2020.
