The Nordstream 1 and 2 pipelines were allegedly sabotaged by a Ukrainian colonel in September 2022. Volodymyr Zelensky was not aware of this operation.
On September 26, 2022, the Baltic Sea is boiling. Underwater explosions cut off the Nordstream 1 and 2 pipelines, routes carrying Russian gas to Europe. A survey published by the Washington Post And Der Spiegel reveal who is behind this operation. This is Roman Chervinsky, a high-ranking Ukrainian officer. In 2022, the 48-year-old colonel has hired a team of six people. The commando rents a boat under a false identity and, using a submarine, places the explosive charges on the pipelines.
A revelation that has consequences for Ukraine
This sabotage was allegedly ordered by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces. Volodymyr Zelensky would never have known about this operation. The pipelines, which start from Russia and transport gas to Germany, are among the most important distribution routes in Europe. With this sabotage, Moscow’s main means of pressure disappears. This action will not be without political consequences for Ukraine, which after two years of war is struggling to obtain unconditional support from the West.
